When 8 year old Emily accidentally tells a grownup that her dementia-striken grandpa almost got them killed, she is taken from him by an inexperienced social worker and placed with Sylvia, a foster parent. 70 year old Sylvia is hilarious, witchy, and haunted by her past. As the pair grow closer, their dreams and visions magically overlap and they must overcome their fears and learn to trust each other.
