THE PECAN MAN tells the tragic yet redemptive story of a small 1970s southern US town when a homeless black man is falesly charges with the fatal stabbing of the police chief's son. The story follows a white widow and her black housekeeper who harbour secrets about a devastating crime that turns the whole town upside down. 

In 1970s Florida, an elderly woman named Ora (LANE) employs a black housekeeper, Blanche, and a down-on-his luck gardener, Eddie (FISHBURNE). After the horrifying assault of Blanche's ten-year old daughter, one of her attackers, who we know to be the sheriff's son, is found dead.

When Eddie is unjustly arrested for this murder, Ora is determinded to seek retribution, as she is the only person that knows the full truth of the crime. She takes it upon herself to make things right, but soon learns that the race and power dynamics  of the town are much more complicated and threatening than she anticipated. Caught between wanting to prove Eddie's innoncence and know that it will have devastating consequences for Blanche's family, Ora must decide whether to let the truth stay buried, and risk an innocent man's life by doing so.
